Breville Conical Burr Grinder Reviewed

$90-$150 |
Like any other coffee grinder under $100 Breville burr grinder is not pretending to the first place in grinding for perfect espresso shot compared to $500-$3000 commercial units. Quite straight started with slight downgrade let's face the truth - it is one of the most popular coffee grinders on the market. This model truly stands out of other grinders with design but that is just a single reason to its popularity.
The Breville burr grinder, model BCG450XL, is a conical burr grinder with a sleek, modern design incorporating stainless steel with black plastic knobs, base and trim. It is a beautiful addition to any kitchen, a very good burr grinder with metal conical burrs. At between $85-150, it's a quality grinder at an affordable price for those who enjoy the taste of freshly ground coffee or espresso.
There are many convenient features on the Breville burr grinder, including a removable bean hopper that holds half a pound of coffee beans, larger than most grinders. You have choices from ultra-fine to coarse grinds, a timer that runs the grinder from ten to thirty seconds, a start/stop control and, of course, an on/off switch.
The Breville burr grinder produce very consistent grind for its price; whichever grinding setting you choose you will find all the grounds come quite uniform though it's not an espresso grinder. One common complaint with most coffee grinders is residue at the bottom of the coffee cup which is a major problem when making espresso or French press; this grinder produces little to no dust.
What makes this grinder unique is its anti-static technology which eliminates the mess caused by other grinders when you remove the grounds container. The steel burr is also removable for cleaning but you must be sure to line up the housing in the same way you removed it or it won't fit.
One of the best features of the Breville burr grinder is the noise level-it's quiet enough and you can have a conversation at normal tones when it's working in the same room. It's not like some other grinders trying to imitate chainsaw noise. Also, unlike many appliances with modern materials, the plastic parts are durable and hold up well, are easy to clean and well built. Because of the anti-static technology and the quality of the conical burr grinders, you'll find that the Breville burr grinder gives off very little dust.
Drawbacks
The oddly shaped grounds receptacle is slightly harder to clean than usual-in fact, that's the major complaint that most consumers have mentioned! It's a bit inconvenient at times but not a major impediment. Some consumers have had problems with especially oily beans clogging the bottom of the hopper but they can be dislodged without much trouble. There have been issues with the timer. Some customers have complained that the timer does not work or stops working after a time but this complaint is relatively rare.
Summary
All told, the Breville burr grinder is a great addition to your kitchen. It is small enough to fit under a counter or in a fairly small space yet substantial enough not to feel like a toy. Aside from the oddly shaped grounds receptacle, it is easy to clean and makes a very clean cup of any type of coffee, you might even try for espresso.
